Love's Executioner by Irvin Yalom

This episode is a discussion about the book Love's Executioner: & Other Tales of Psychotherapy by Irvin D. Yalom.

Here is a summary of the book from the publisher:

The collection of ten absorbing tales by master psychotherapist Irvin D. Yalom uncovers the mysteries, frustrations, pathos, and humor at the heart of the therapeutic encounter. In recounting his patients' dilemmas, Yalom not only gives us a rare and enthralling glimpse into their personal desires and motivations but also tells us his own story as he struggles to reconcile his all-too human responses with his sensibility as a psychiatrist.

  1. I'm so sorry I don't know how to just send you an email. I do not use Twitter or Facebook by choice, so I hope this does not end up in the wrong place.

I think your podcast is great. I think you guys should check out books by David Richo. His book HOW TO BE AN ADULT from 1991 was probably the first self-help psychology book that I actually felt better after just reading. WHEN THE PAST IS PRESENT is another great one. His ideas in his other books are just as good. His latest books, to me, may be a little too inundated with the word "mindfulness", so I prefer his earlier books. (I have become fatigued hearing the word, so perhaps it's my bias.)

    Thanks for considering his stuff.
